As I've built the site up over the years, I understand that navigating it has become a little more difficult. Here's a general idea of what you can find here, and where:
![]() |
Franklin Bruno | A page with information on Franklin Bruno's solo work, as well as some information about his more recent work with The Human Hearts. Clips are available from several Shrimper tapes, his early 7"s, and his CDs on Absolutely Kosher and Simple Machines. Some information on the Extra Glenns is also presented here. |
![]() |
Nothing Painted Blue |
You can read all about Nothing Painted Blue here. Some lyrics are available, Bandcamp links are provided for their major album releases, and you can hear clips from some uncompiled material like their 7" on Pottery Records and the Control Freak single. |
![]() |
Refrigerator + the bux |
As much information as possible is presented here on both Refrigerator and its predecessor band. Helmed by Shrimper Records head Dennis Callaci and his brother Allen, Refrigerator is a hidden gem of the Inland Empire. Read and then get ahold of anything you can get ahold of by them. |
![]() |
Diskothi-Q | Dearly departed Diskothi-Q spent the 90's rocking out, then left it all on the field with two final albums about football. Their 7"s, tapes, and CDs are covered here. |
![]() |
Halo | Halo made some great stuff. A demo tape, a Shrimper cassingle, a 7", two full albums, and a split 12" with a Dust Brothers remix... not to mention a number of compilation appearances. Take a listen to the clips. |
![]() |
Shoeface | Bob Durkee and Nathan Wilson kept busy playing and recording with other people in the 90's, but found enough time to pump out several 7"s, an album, and some great live recordings. |
![]() |
Speed Bumps | Like Shoeface, this is the rock-out project of a name better known for recording. Steve Folta's outfit put out a handful of releases on his Tube Alloy label, and Steve was kind enough to send me a copy of their tape Get Sped! which you can hear clips from. |
![]() |
Party of One | Party of One was the solo project of a teenager in Chino, CA, with a final Car In Car Disco Product tape capping it off in the 90's. This is a section under constant construction due to the scarcity & degradation of surviving material. |
![]() |
Big Breakfast | A supergroup in its own way. Lisa Kuta and Diskothi-Q drummer Kevin Trapp traded off vocals in this outfit, with Chris Damore and Bill Magdziarz on drums and keys. KUCI's Steve Kronk played bass on their record, while Nathan (from Shoeface) filled in for at least one live gig. |
![]() |
Junket | Junket were short-lived, but produced enough material for a decent compilation CD. Steve Folta played drums and contributed occasional vocals. |
![]() |
Baby Huey | The Baby Huey label, run by Bill Chen, put out several phenomenal 7"s. Few catalogs can promise the kind of range that Baby Huey managed in just 9 releases: where else will you find The Gerogerigegege and some of Franklin Bruno's most beautiful melodies? |
![]() |
Jupa Records | Kyle Brodie was busy enough drumming for both Wckr Spgt and Nothing Painted Blue, not to mention building his legal career. Why not also run a label? Jupa, like Baby Huey, had a short but fantastic run, putting out NPB and Spgt material plus a Giant Sand 7". |
![]() |
Shrimper | What can I say about Shrimper? Dennis Callaci's labor of love allowed all kinds of strange, wonderful music to escape out into the world, bound to magnetic tape. This site's primary function is to catalog and preserve as many of these tapes as possible. |
![]() |
Sonic Enemy | Sonic Enemy gave the world Exit House, the greatest band the world will never hear. |
![]() |
Peter Hughes | Peter (Peter) Hughes is a photographer and automotive writer based in Rochester, NY. He makes music in his free time, labeling his work as "commie synthpop" and "autojournowave" as the subject demands. This page provides links to his car writing and where to find his car photographs, plus links to Bandcamp pages for his solo music. |
![]() |
Matt Douglas | This isn't a Mountain Goats fansite, but it is MY fansite, so I get to talk about this guy. After a decade of recording with the Mountain Goats and nearly a decade on tour, Matt Douglas has become essential to the band's agility onstage and their range in the studio. He is also a total sweetheart. This page covers his early work and will also direct you to listen to The Hot At Nights. |

Jon Wurster | We could all learn something from Jon Wurster about balancing theory and praxis. Jon is both a comedy writer and radio sketch performer; he is both a music writer, and active studio & touring musician. Rarely without a new book on some piece of 20th century music history, Jon is both a font of knowledge and a force of nature on the drumkit. He also has excellent fashion sense and great hair. This page links to a wide variety of his writing and interviews. |

I am just one guy with a low-traffic domain, a string of dead-end jobs, a lot of debt, and a good attitude. I love this website and this work more than I love anything else in the world, but I have limited capability to dig up tapes, zines, and other material. I accept donations, but I am also more than happy to pay fairly for what people have on hand. If you can help track some of these down, get in touch. |
