old-town Pomona comes alive w/ XmasFest spirit: DiskothiQ, Mtn. Goats, Loggerhead, Pecan, Shoeface, Satnam Puppets, the Vomit Boys, Paste, Exit House, Chicken Damage, Delly Daktel, 1/2 of Halo, Refrigerator, & Dogtown CA all captured live 12/27/92. Twelve painful hours neatly condensed into one.

This is a hard tape to get ahold of, on account of that "Mtn. Goats" you see up there.

NEW: As of December 22nd, 2022, audio clips! Just in time to hear some of this tape on the 30th anniversary of 12/27/92. All the above tracks are present in slightly varying lengths. The "Daniel" cover is shortened to only a few chords out of an abundance of caution. Many thanks to Mark Givens of Wckr Spgt for allowing me to bring the audio files of this one home with me in 2018; I still do not have a copy of this tape myself.

This is a tape that can always put a smile on my face, which I fully admit influenced my choice of clips for this one. Great bookends of DiskothiQ and Refrigerator goofing around. Shoeface is a joy here, too; Bob's vocal entry into the track is perfect, in a Shoeface way. And the moodier run from Paste to LO! All of "Does She" is fun, but I chose to excerpt a great Allen Callaci moment specifically. And it's a bunch of early Shrimper people from top to bottom here, so there's plenty of weird, loud, wonderful noise. Enjoy!

Additional notes:

Delly Daktel are mentioned in the '93 SE catalog but didn't make it to the tape.
The special bonus track is the boys all having some fun at the expense of the boys from Further, whose prior band Shadowland is covered here. No hard feelings, one assumes, as Brent Rademaker of Further would put out a DiskothiQ 7" on his X-mas Records label a few years later.
"Does She" is very different from its appearance on Lonesome Surprize, devolving into brotherly banter and non-sequitors as many Refrigerator live performances were known for doing.
Scott Feemster of Halo appears alone here to deliver "The River Runs Back" in an acoustic-unto-electric solo performance. You can hear other recordings of this song on Pawnshop Reverb and as "River Runs Black" on JAGeye velocity.
For the Shoeface track: there's a recording of "Time to Develop" on Shrimper compilation Capgun that's completely distinct from this one, and a '91 studio version.
DiskothiQ cover "Perfect Power" straight on Delicious, Homemade. This version has a badger joke and some cute laughter in it, which Mtn Goat/Franklin Bruno/Extra Glenns fans will appreciate.
I would love to hear about Pecan, Loggerhead, and Dogtown CA!
